Health & Productivity Management and Occupational Safety and Health

Health and Productivity Management

In line with our corporate philosophy, Shofu promotes health and productivity management by viewing the enhancement and maintenance of all employees' health from a management perspective as part of its efforts to address the four priority themes of sustainability management.

Working in cooperation with health insurance societies, industrial doctors, labor unions, and other stakeholders, we are making efforts to address various health issues and improve measures for the physical and mental wellbeing of our employees, toward the goal of creating a "nice and comfortable workplace gleaming with healthy teeth," where every employee can work energetically, and with a sense of fulfillment.

Health and Productivity Management Declaration

People, essential to all corporate activities, represent our most important management resource. Accordingly, valuing people is a fundamental principle of our business.

We are committed to fostering an environment in which employees enhance their awareness of health, proactively embrace change, and work with vitality and engagement, enabling them to realize their full potential.

Through these efforts, we declare our commitment to contributing to global dental care through creative corporate activities.

Purpose of Promoting Health and Productivity Management

Rather than leaving health management solely to employees, the Company regards employee health and health-related investments as key management priorities. Through these efforts, we seek to enhance overall work engagement*, improve productivity and business performance, and foster a healthy, supportive work environment.

  • Work engagement refers to a positive, fulfilling psychological state toward one's work, characterized by three elements: vigor, dedication, and absorption.

Specific Initiatives

1. Promoting Physical Health

  1. As a dental materials manufacturer, we will continually provide education and training designed to enhance employees' awareness of oral hygiene and promote dental and oral health.
  2. We will implement measures to encourage employees to receive regular dental care consultations.
  3. We aim to achieve a 100% participation rate every year for regular health checkups, lifestyle-related disease screenings, and other health examinations.
  4. We will implement measures to improve participation rates in specific health guidance programs for the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases.
  5. We will consider measures to ensure opportunities for employees to undergo comprehensive half-day medical checkups.
  6. We will examine measures to prevent passive smoking, including the relocation of smoking areas.
  7. For health issues identified as high priority, we will establish process-based evaluation indicators and formulate promotion plans.
  8. In addition, we will appropriately consider and implement other measures necessary to promote and maintain employee health.

2. Promoting Mental Health

  1. We will consider measures to improve participation rates in stress checks.
  2. We will review and analyze stress check results and consider initiatives to link these findings to improvements in the workplace environment.
  3. We will establish interview criteria for employees working long hours and build a system for conducting interviews with occupational physicians and other relevant professionals.
  4. Through line care education, we will work to enhance awareness of mental health care in the workplace.
  5. Through self-care education, we will aim to improve employees' mental health literacy.

Health and Productivity Management Framework

  • The Health and Productivity Management Promotion Committee is composed of members of the Safety and Health Committee and convenes in conjunction with the monthly Safety and Health Committee meetings. Its meeting frequency is not fixed; sessions are held on an as-needed basis depending on the agenda.

Certified as a 2025 Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organization (Large Enterprise Category)

In line with our corporate philosophy of "Contributing to global dental care through creative corporate activities," Shofu has promoted health and productivity management by approaching employee health promotion and maintenance from a management perspective. As a result, the Company was once again certified as a 2025 Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organization (Large Enterprise Category), following its recognition in the previous year.

Going forward, we will continue working toward creating a "nice and comfortable workplace gleaming with healthy teeth," enabling all employees to work with vitality and a sense of fulfillment. We will promote initiatives to address health-related issues in collaboration with the health insurance association, occupational physicians, labor unions, and other relevant stakeholders.

Occupational Safety and Health

At Shofu, we have established a Safety and Health Committee composed of both labor and management to respond to consultations regarding, and to promote, the measures and initiatives necessary for occupational safety, health, and well-being implemented by the Company.

The Committee works to promote a safe and comfortable work environment through activities including surveys, deliberation and implementation of safety and health measures; dissemination and awareness-raising of safety and health knowledge; prevention of occupational accidents and illnesses; investigation of causes; prevention of recurrence; compilation of statistics; and planning of preventive measures.

At each workplace, 3S activities--organizing, tidying, and cleaning--are carried out to improve and maintain a comfortable work environment. In addition, training is provided twice a year for workplace representatives to promote awareness of safety and health.
